Benefits of Mastering

The term ‘mastering’ has gone thru a number of changes as technology advanced over the years to mean various things in this stage of audio production. It was used to describe the process of actually pressing or producing the vinyl records, and few years later was used to describe the final ‘master’ copy which was produced using special glass disc, which had other CD copied from. Nowadays, mastering can be described on the process of ‘enhancing’ your existing recordings by applying special tricks and tools on each track (if we have the multisession files) or the entire track to make it sound richer, big, and clean.

How can it be applied?

Transferring the recorded audio tracks into the Digital Audio Workstation (DAW)

Process or “sweeten” audio to maximize the sound quality for its particular medium.
Transfer the audio to the final master format (i.e., Red Book-compatible audio CD or a CD-ROM data, half-inch reel tape, PCM 1630 U-matic tape, etc.).
